i dont get it. maybe others who do, can explain it to me.

why is putin's hate noted at the start of that?
why are we apparently striving to do something putin will hate?
is the UK rejoining the EU something putin's likely to hate? why?
i struggle to follow the logical connect, or the intent of the suggestion.

also, brexit or no brexit's not a reliable criteria for the complete list of proposed benefits. can still be subject to crooks (or not [1]), either way. solution space lays elsewhere than that divisive ploy.

thinking more about this, I may have a better way of explaining it.

Putin is an autocrat. A dictator. Like all dictators, he wants to expand his realm as much as possible, and rule it with (as we say n English) an Iron Fist.

His current objective is to recreate the Soviet Union, but not as a marxist state, but instead, as a simple dictatorship under himself. He believes all the former Soviet States "belong" to Russia.

When Brexit caused Britain to leave the EU, that was good for Putin's plans. (ie: it made him happy)

If Britain were to rejoin the EU, that would be bad for Putin's plans.

The meme isn't really about "making Putin unhappy" it's about doing things that are detrimental to his plans. Defeating his long term goals.

Saying "it will make him unhappy" is simply another way of saying "defeating his goals"... poetic license, if you will.

The point isn't about his happiness or unhappiness, it's about assisting or curtailing his plans. The happy/unhappy is just a different way of saying it in English.

We live on a big lake that flows into the Columbia. Someone got the bright idea to add a freshwater shrimp to the ecosystem so the tourists would catch bigger fish. Kokanee -- a landlocked salmon -- and rainbow or lake trout. The shrimp biomass replaced the kokanee biomass and now the shrimp have to be harvested but the kokanee population has increased its numbers. Human meddling and unforeseen consequences. Now we're blanching at the thought of invasive mussels arriving on tourist speedboats.

This nitwit misunderstands the purpose of the Olympics, too. The athletic competition is the excuse, but getting all the nations together to do something together is the real point of the Olympics. Sports are a universal and neutral thing in which all nations can participate, so it's a good vehicle for getting nations together. It is far from perfect, but that's a reflection of human nature.
