AI is destroying artists right now. That's undeniable - and AI is coming for every profession. I agree with your original meme, that AI doesn't work without training data, which is other people's effort. But, do you think that this is inevitable: AI today is going to do to artists what the loom did to weavers ages ago. And you can still try to "throw your sabot's into the machine" but that isn't likely to work given history.

I think that right now we are beginning to ramp-up into an AI singularity. We cannot extrapolate any real consequences of AI and must instead just wait and see what happens.

The current goal is, as you said, to force adoption faster than would happen on its own. I think the reason for this is national adversary. We must develop AI as fast as we can because China, and others, are doing that exact same effort. And whoever gets general intelligence first, or maybe even a super-intelligence, might have a decisive and maybe even final influence on all future events.

With that risk the greater risk is ignored: AI might be the end of us, in many possible ways, and we're stuck in a "race to the bottom" to perhaps make ourselves extinct because we can't cooperate. We need to stop, and we can't, because we don't trust each other as nations.

A sophisticated Russian spear phishing campaign has been targeting the #Kremlin's #critics in Russia and the West, according to a report from digital rights groups Citizen Labs and Access Now published Aug. 14.

Phishing is a type of social engineering in which attackers seek access to victims' online accounts by leveraging personalized deceptive tactics.

Updated: Ukraine hits 4 Russian #airbases in largest such attack

The large-scale #drone attack was carried out by the SBU in cooperation with the Air Force, Special Operation Forces, Unmanned Systems Forces, and military intelligence agency (HUR), the source revealed to the Kyiv Independent.

The goal was to prevent Russia from using the airbases to strike Ukrainian military positions and settlements with #KAB bombs. The consequences of the attacks are being determined, the source added.

"We are waiting for satellite photos of destroyed Russian fighters and warehouses," the source said.
