Cats have a reputation for aloofness (and flooffiness), but if you and your feline friend aren't bonding, maybe you're just not speaking their language.
Hehe. Cats are cats. I'll admit the threshold of blinkies differs from cat to cat. If I get blinkies then its usually a good sign that they're feeling OK. I do have to consider the personality of each cat before being concerned if they don't apparently feel it. Yet all 4 of our cats will respond - to varying degrees.
And yeah - tortitude for sure. Our two girls are a tortie and a muted tortie.
Someone once claimed that, to a cat, blinking means, "I love you". Maybe sometimes, but not always. There was a time when I had just walked home from the bus stop, and was checking the curbside mailbox. There was a cat (which I had never seen before) walking across the yard; he had stopped and was watching me to see if I was hostile. I had read that blinking at a cat told him that you weren't hostile, so I blinked at him. He blinked back, and continued on his way, not giving me a second glance. He didn't know me, and had no reason to believe that I loved him; we merely established that things were cool between us, and there was no cause for alarm.
