ich habe in den letzten Jahren als Geburtstagsgeschenk für Freund*innen & Verwandte einige individuelle Musikcompilations erstellt (CDs + Playlist / Download). Und zwar mit dem Konzept, dass die Compilation ab dem Geburtsjahr bis zum aktuellen Jahr einen Song pro Jahr enthält.

Das Musikspektrum: 🎸 🥁
Der Schwerpunkt ist partytaugliche #Rockmusik (auch #Alternative #Indie #Crossover #Grunge), dann zum Teil ergänzt um den individuellen Geschmack der Beschenkten (bislang u.a. #Punk #Darkwave #MittelalterRock (Soft-)#Metal #Pop)

Hier haben auch im Fediverse schon einige bereits mit Musiktipps geholfen... u.a. hier

Das älteste "Geburtstagskind" bislang war Geburtsjahr 1956. Da ich mich in der Zeit musikalisch am besten auskenne, sind in meiner Vorauswahl die 90er Jahre stark überrepräsentiert, während die Liste in den 50er/60er, aber auch in den 2010er Jahren nur wenig Auswahl / Vielfalt enthält. Auch in den 70er/ 80er und ab 2005 sind weitere Ergänzungen sehr willkommen.

Der nächste Post enthält meine bisherige Liste (Vorauswahl) bzw. einen Ausschnitt daraus.
Ich wäre sehr dankbar für einschlägige Musiktipps und bin gespannt auf Eure Ergänzungen!

Global IT outage shows dangers of cashless society


Supermarkets, banks, pubs, cafes, train stations and airports were all hit by the failure of #Microsoft systems on Friday, leaving many unable to accept electronic payments. The impact was especially severe for businesses that no longer accept cash.

The Payment Choice Alliance (PCA), which campaigns against the move towards a cashless society, lists 23 firms and groups, at least some of whose outlets take only credit or debit cards.

“There will always be outages,” said Ron Delnevo, the PCA’s chair. “But if there is no alternative, then the whole thing can collapse around you.”

Cash payments increased for the first time in a decade last year, according to UK Finance, which represents banks

I've noticed the good minimalist embedded Linux systems of twenty years ago still are secure and fast to this day. None of that anti virus bloat or updates needed. Inputs and outputs were thoughtfully minimized and resistant to attacks, unlike systemD and every library from Redhat squeezed in by the gigabyte that is certain to give a wide attack surface. The engine room running Linux at work would have decades of uptime if not for the power outages every few years. The only failures I've seen are power supplies decaying due to chemistry that happens after 15 or so years. Reliable enough that I can bet my life on it

And BSD operating systems have the same and even better performance. I've seen them run the test instruments at work. When the Windows systems failed from ransomware, the *nix systems were in no danger, because they weren't complied with lazy vulnerable surfaces. They were solid as rocks and carried on. Too bad that people demand Windows that gives illusions and promises of security. I can almost effortlessly log into other accounts at work without passwords. Every place I've worked at. Windows is a freaking joke.
