Houses of that era and size up here in IL, with full basement and attached garage (because weather is different up here) are now going for $200K - for a 60-70 year-old house.
$2,250/year average income in 1955. 2024 average household income is $80k.
That's not apples and oranges so let's assume (dubiously but for the sake of discussion) that the average household income was $4,500 in 1955. That would make these houses a bit less than 2x the household income.
Average house price in 2023 was $412k, or a little over 5x household income.
I think I could tell it was real because I saw real flood damage in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. You can almost see the motion of the water in those cars
@Michel Patrice The thing is if you actually take the time to look at the statistics, FLOODS and FIRES and HURRICAINES are neither happening more often NOR with more severity, they are actually down somewhat. What IS happening is more capital damage but this is only because stupid people build condos on the shorelines.
The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 was used to justify World War II-era internment of noncitizens, and now Donald Trump is threatening to invoke the law to target immigrant communities
they spend all day making it so kids can be gunned down in class and then go on TV at night and cry about how their population is vanishing and being replaced
no, silly, it's only the poor and brown kids in those classes... their kids are in nice private schools
"...despite what anyone tells you bloodletting has never and will never be the cure for anything and if after all this time someone is still advocating it they may just be the leech fattening itself on other peoples blood" With emphasis on "someone is still advocating it they may just be the LEECH fattening itself on other peoples blood"
